Eamonn Dowd paid his dues playing with long forgotten bands during the 1980's and early 90's in his native Ireland. In 1996 he formed The Racketeers and embarked on a never ending adventure bringing his fiery brand of country / americana / garage / rock 'n' roll to audiences far and wide, releasing eleven albums along the way. In recent years Dowd has toured (with The Racketeers & solo) throughout Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Finland, Estonia, Austria, Switzerland, Czech, east coast USA and Canada. |
The new album "Songs From The Fever Ship" is a collaboration with Horslips drummer / lyricist Eamon Carr, and has received great critical acclaim. Carr not only steps up to the microphone for some spoken word pieces, he also plays drums on a few tracks while his Horslips comrade Jim Lockhart plays organ, flute and tin whistles.
Released by German label Intendance, "Songs From The Fever Ship" is available now on CD, LP, cassette and download.
"Dig Into Nowhere" (2017) was released through Disques Fridge/Spellbound with German distribution through Pool Musik. It marked a highlight in Dowds career. Nashville legend Gary Carter plays pedal steel on the album. Gary, a veteran of the Grand Ole Opry has played with countless country stars including Faith Hill, Marty Stuart, Randy Travis and Glen Campbell.
Other notable releases include "Silver & Dust" (2006) and "Mansions Of Gold" (2009) both released by hip German label Cannery Row Records. "Two Way Mirror" - a collection of lost tracks and out-takes came out on Cheapskate in 2009. Three limited edition 7 inch lathe-cut 45's have been added to the catalogue and even a cassette album, "Red Tape - Dead Formats Volume 1".
Clarence Winter played pedal steel on over 20 shows in the last couple of years while Ken Whelan features on keyboards and accordion with long time associates Al Cowan on drums and Les Keye on bass.
Anthony D'Arcy recently played several gigs as drummer.
Eamonn has guested on an LP by Blink and played on an award winning single by Hyper Borea. He spent most of 1996 with ex Beautiful South singer Briana Corrigan ( writing, recording and touring the UK)
Dowd has also recorded with the legendary Nikki Sudden and this material was released on Sudden's posthumous box-set "The Boy From Nowhere Who Fell Out From The Sky" on the UK label Easy Action.
He also collaborated with Lady Olivia Robertson, High Priestess of the Fellowship of Isis on a track on the 2013
album Wicked Wind Coming.
